Our Vision shapes who we are and where we are going. It gives us an identity and helps us to see ourselves in the bigger picture of Gods Kingdom and how we are a part of it.
Our Vision is to be a family of passionate believers who love Jesus, love each other and love the community that we live in. To be a people that encounter Gods Presence, Promise and Purpose for our lives and share it with the world around us. A family of believers that express the kingdom of God in every area of our lives.
To be an honest, caring, genuine and authentic Acts 2 community who do life together sharing in the good news that Jesus saves and transforms lives. Our story began in 2002 planting Glo out of Jubilee Church. Started with an idea to be an evolving church culture that could evolve with the changing society we live in. With the help of our extended church family – New Generation Church / Pioneer Network, Glo became a team led church with a clear vision to invest into our local community and celebrate the place god had planted us in.
2002 marked the beginning of Lark in the Park, a gift for the local community of free summer provision for all ages. Investing into community, changing lives and being church beyond our walls.
Glo moved in 2004 from its original meeting place and building shared with the Kings Church in Ramsgate. An exciting time of serving alongside another local church, develop-ing community projects and beginning to see Glo grow with people encountering Jesus. Kings Church would meet in the morning and Glo gathered at 4pm every Sunday.
In 2005 we launched the Hang 10 Project along-side local police providing youth work for young people in the places that they live.
Glo moves into its very own offices in Ramsgate at the Royal Harbour in 2006. Felt like we were growing up a little.
It’s all move again in 2007 as we move our Sunday Services to the VUE Cinema, a newly built multiplex cinema at the heart of Thanet. Community Action Teams was created with the local government, community transformation projects improving the local environment and quality of life for the marginalised.
Glo has supported BCDO from year one (in 2008) by giving the event team, event resources and a lot of prayer. We still serve BCDO today as one of our ways to be generous beyond our locality. 2008 was also the first ever Glo Weekender, which now runs every summer for three days, a place for the church to camp out, eat well and deepen community.
2009 is the year of education, ASPIRE was created. An education initiative that would pioneer learning pathways for those iso-lated from main stream education. Expressions fo Aspire now run in multiple locations across the UK. Glo move into new offices in Strasbourg Street where we now call home. The same day we moved in Mike Andrea snuck off and found the extra warehouses that are now home to our services and projects.
2010 is a huge year for Glo as we redevelop 12,500 of warehouse space into a new church complex citing the vision of build-ing a city within the city.
Prayer overtakes Glo with the birth of Revival Run in 2011 and the Prayer Lock In. Over 66,000 prayer stakes were made and commissioned from Glo alongside weekly 6pm lock in prayer nights.
In 2012 24-7 Prayer comes to Glo. The church had hosted 24-7 prayer weeks since the beginning but this year the church dug deep into the vision of prayer, mission and justice and served the team.
Glo planted its first church -‘Glo Torbay’ in 2013 with Toby and and Rachel Chant. Sent with just a handful of friends Glo Torbay is now a prominent church in the area.
In 2015 The Aspirations Centre is built, providing education, health and well-being initiatives to the local community in partnership with East Kent College, Public Health and Orbit Housing.
In 2016 the permanent 24-7 Prayer Room is built and commissioned at Glo, hosting sea-sons of 21 days of non stop prayer and an open door policy to praying there. Mike Andrea officially joins the 24-7 International Team.
The Glo Community Hub is developed in 2017 and opened as an extension of the church and its projects to a more localised context.
In 2018 Glo joins the 24-7 Prayer Boiler Room Network (Now called 24-7 Communities). Commissioned as a team in Vienna at the annual international gathering. A new church network where we invest into and are invested into.
In 2019 Glo Is recognised for its investment into communities by Mike Andrea being awarded a Queens Honour for the contribution we make as a church. Mikes only response was ‘ this is our award, one accomplished by team’. Glo becomes a a key church to 24-7 Prayer as Mike Andrea accepts the leadership role of the movement from Pete Greig.
Glo launches a new initiative called The Listening Rooms, a counselling service free to young people and wider communities.
