Based in the heart of Thanet, Glo is a church made up of all generations making one big family with one heart for our community through all kinds of expressions. Each person living to be genuine reflection of Gods love toward each other and the world around us through our everyday lives. Holding to the values of Worship, Community and Generosity, everyone who calls Glo their home makes up part of our story and the adventure that God leads us into.
Our story began in 2002 out of Jubilee Church based in Newington Jnr School. Glo started with an idea to be an evolving church culture that could evolve with the changing society we live in. Moving between locations and facilities available Glo was on a constant learning curve to understand what it meant to create and lead church in an ever changing community.
With the help of our extended church family - New Generation Church / Pioneer Network Glo became a team led church with a clear vision to invest into our local community and celebrate the place god had planted us in. This year marked the beginning of Lark In The Park.
Glo moved from its original meeting place and building shared with the Kings Church in Ramsgate. An exciting time of serving alongside another local church, developing community projects and beginning to see Glo grow with people encountering Jesus. Kings Church would meet in the morning and Glo gathered at 4pm every Sunday (Good times).
Glo moved into a season of transition with new offices in Ramsgate Royal Harbour and moving from the Kings Church to gather at the newly built VUE cinema in Westwood Cross. Putting the church on full display in a new development introduced a fresh vision for every member to serve and be served within the context of gathering. The work across the area continued to grow in partnership with the local authorities and schools and the beginning of being involved in education.
Glo moved from its offices in Ramsgate to our current offices at the Glo Centre, on the day we moved into the offices Mike Andrea skinned into the joining empty warehouse and it was here the vision to build a church in a warehouse began to become a reality.
The Glo centre still had one redundant space within it and after a unique prophetic word and a chance meeting with some very well dressed people Glo developed the first healthy living centre in east Kent (The Aspirations Center), that would be home to education, health and wellbeing services to the Thanet area.
The story of Glo is packed with additional stories, our adventures with New Generation Church, our love for Big Church Day Out, Spring Harvest,Compassion and much further afield with Asha- Delhi, Light of the Masa or supporting alpha in Burma. In fact there are so many stories we simply don't have the space to list them.
The future of Glo is not about locations and resources but always about the people in it, every person a colourful thread that makes up a stunning tapestry of stories, every person adding something new. As Glo grows the future grows with it, thread by thread, colour by colour. What will never change is our passion for Jesus, love for people and thirst for Gods adventure.
